only driver who will drop her off at the house so she won't have to walk home two blocks, which isn't much but he does it as a courteousy to her. plus he does fun things to make the kids laugh like barks at our dogs and they bark back and the kids laugh like they never saw it before day after day. last year we gave him nothing for christmas but for the end of the school year, i re-gifted a $25. Kmart card to him as a thank you. I plan to give a gift at the end of the year as well but WHAT SHOULD I GIVE FOR CHRISTMAS. he's in his 60s and we don't even know his name.

We lived in a big neighborhood with many kids growing up and we all took the same bus. After school many of us would have pre planned play dates or girl scout meetings at each others house. We were always getting off at different stops and if we did this on a day we were supposed to come home I think it would have been wrong to punish the bus driver. How are they supposed to know? And if this isn't the case with yours, well, how are they supposed to maintain safe control over the bus, the lights, and every one elses kids plus your own if your child disobeys you? I think if my bus driver 20 years ago got into trouble because my sister and I got off the bus knowing we were doing something wrong, that wouldn't be right.

I got my son's bus driver a gift certificate to our local bakery.Who doesn't like to pick out a yummy treat for themselves?

Just stay away from the bus-themed gifts. They get a ton of those.

Also, your first grader should NOT be having to walk two blocks by herself, or even with an older kid. A few houses maybe - but not 2 blocks. You should complain if that seriously happens!

Write a wonderful letter to his company praising him for his work. (Be sure, though, that what he's doing for the kids isn't against company policy.) The school will surely know his name, or at least his bus company, who would have his name.

I doubt that bus drivers make a lot of money, so another gift card might be appropriate. You might give him also a minature school bus to add to your gift. (Although another answerer warns that they get "tons" of bus-themed gifts.)

You might ask the folks at AARP what is an appropriate present for a 60-year-old man.

Bless you for your thoughtfulness!

We did a bus driver gift once. We did a five dollar gift card to blockbuster and a bag of ghiradelli chocolates. inexpensive but nice.

You could get him a gift basket, Like Hickory Farms or something. Have your child make him a card and include it with the gift. A gidt card is a good idea, the thing about that is that they know how much you spend.

I think a gift card is the best bet. Maybe this time for a book store electronics store, or even a home improvement store. Hope this helps!

Have your child and you make homemade cookies and give it to him. It makes it more personnel and your child can help too.
