I'm getting an angel tree gift for a child in need at my church and I'm planning on a sweater as a practical gift - but most 10 year olds are probably not going to get as thrilled about that as something a little extra thrown in that is really cool that 10 year old girls really like and want these days. My kids are little so I have no idea.

We have a ten year old and here are some ideas that won't break your wallet (Most are around $15)

Tamagotchi (Electronic toy that they can chat with other Tamagotchis)
Little Petz virtual
BRATZ dolls
BRATZ Bop-it game
A handheld electronic game
a plastic container full of craft stuff

Not unless it's a fancy glittery cropped sweater that the parents would not approve of.

Most kids want electronic gadgets, but a lot of them are not much use without other pieces of a system (i.e. digital cameras need computers and printers).

Mostly 10-year-olds want to be older girls. But they're not ready for makeup and such even if they think they are. So maybe a subscription to Teen People magazine or similiar magazine.

I would suggest as a little extra, a lip gloss or body spray, or some fashion jewlery......a needy child will be thankful for anything they recieve.

Its a lovely gesture, I always give a couple of gifts to the wishing tree in our church..........I'd hate to think of a child missing out at Christmas.

Merry Christmas!!

I got my 10 year old niece a mall gift card. Think debit/credit card with a limit. That way she can learn how to manage her little budget and buy what she really wants.

Um, I have a cousin who is 10 and she is asking for some make up (maybe, like some lip gloss, and some eyeshadow.) An ipod or mp3 player, if there into music, some clothes, books, or movies. My cousin is also getting a subscription to some of her favorite magazines, so yeah, I hope these ideas helped. :)

pardon, but is everyone here crazy? it's a child in need. he/she has no use for an ipod or a digital camera. if you want to surprise him/her, hive them like 30 dollars.
