Its used rarely. NFL QB's are much more valuable that college QB's. You don't want him getting smacked all the time.

It is very tough on a QB. Also, pro defenses are much faster, stronger, and smarter than college defenses. You would need to have a fast QB that is willing and able to take some punishment to run the option in the NFL. Not many teams are willing to take that risk.

The option is based on a mistake in the defensive line play. The guys in the nfl are way too good, and way too fast, to run the option.

Also becuase it risks turning over the ball
The option is rarely used in a game in college

Pro defenses are way better than college. They would laugh if someone pulled up and ran an option.

As mentioned, pro defenses are better and faster and pro linebackers will plant a QB six feet under whether he's got the ball or not.

They'd be buried alive. Pro defenses are much faster and track to the ball much better. More difficult to get to "the corner" and all the laterals involved would mean many many turnovers that would kill a pro team.

Tell that to "Touchdown" Tomlinson. He threw for two touchdowns on the option this season. That isn't even with they are calling him "Touchdown."
