according to my experience as a mech for 5plus yrs it should be 1 4 3 2 at top dead center find where the rotor is pointing to under the dist cap and that is your first plug wire which is cylinder 1 Also find out which way the rotor turns and connect the next cyl & the dist cap which would be 4 counter clock or clockwise is the only way it will be. hope this helps also if you take cyl plug 1 out and cover the hole with a finger or thumb have a friend bump the starter around ,this will push your thumb or finger off by compression and then you will know its tdc also check the harmonic balancer to see the mark for timing it should be close to the mark that says 0 degree or TDC hope this is good info it has always worked for me .......hrpuffnstff1186@yahoo

1-4-3-2 clockwise on the distributor.
