I've been getting in trouble a little bit at home. I've been grounded 3 times in the last 2 months. Anyway yesterday i smarted off to my mom and she told me that if i don't start behaving that they are going to give me a spanking. Are they just saying that or are they really serious? I haven't been spanked in 2 years. I turned 14 in october.

I'm 5 foot 2 and around 100 lbs and i think i could probably take my mom if she tried. she is like 5 foot 5 and about 140 lbs.

Well, our 14 year old daughter just was spanked by her Mom the weekend before last. She started crying when we grounded her for repeatedly coming home late without calling. She then outstmarted herself by suggesting a spanking instead which she thought would be nothing and started smart mouthing us. Then on top of the spanking, which was certainly something, I still grounded her for 1/2 the original amount I was going to. Now she is really sorry and embarrassed about being treated like the 5 year old she was acting like.

But seriously, yes it is kinda rediculous that at 14 you have to be spanked. You would think that after being grounded 3 times in the last 2 months (and in my family that math doesn't add up since you are never grounded for less then a month), you would catch a clue.

It was the last time I was spanked, and I doubt it was the laughing that did it. In fact it was the last time I needed to be hit.
My kids don't get spanked, and they've never needed to be hit in order to start behaving. So I never have had to pose them that question. So instead I pose it to you, Do you really think you need to be hit.... in order to behave?

I got spanked when I was your age even though I had about 3 inches and 40 pounds on my mom. I would rather have taken 100 spankings than to raise my hand to her. I agree that spanking makes everything worse. If your parents hadn't hit you to begin with, then maybe you would have a different attitude towards hitting other people. It's pretty bad when you have to think of ways to physically defend yourself against the person you're supposed to trust the most.
