I like to read the Bible in chronological order, and the Bible isn't set up that way. There are different "Bible in a year" calendars you can get that will help you keep on track. It's something to think about with the coming new year.

There is no "right" way to read the Bible. Several churches have lectionaries that suggest readings for each week or day of the year, usually with each set of readings designed around a theme. There are also some calendars of readings that will allow readers to make their way through the entire Bible in a year. You can find some of these by searching "lectionary" or "bible calendar" in various search engines. Another alternative is to start at the beginning and read straight through. If you do this, you might prefer to start at the beginning of both the Old and New Testaments and alternate between them, as you can easily get bogged down in the Old Testament if you read only that.

You want make sure you get a study bible first. One that has a concordance with it. This will help you understand what you are ready. Secondly, if you belong to a church. You want to get the version of the bible that is mainly read in your church. The New Testament is easy to read and is very understandable. Start with the book of Matthew, Luke, & John. Most study bibles will tell you the best way to start reading the bible. Welcome to the adventure!!!

I had a solution that worked for me. I invested in audio tapes of the Bible and read and listened at the same time. I also kept a highlighter and fine-tipped pen handy. That way you are sure to hit your special way of learning -- listening, seeing, writing.
And it goes fast too. I went through the entire New Testament in two to three weeks.

you just have to read through, starting with the beginning, it will provide backround for itself as it goes along. just remember to keep an open mind and not take everything too literally because the authors of the bible used alot of symbolizm to write it. in the new testament, in the first four gospels specifically, things wre ommited and changed to prove a point to the speific groups of people that were reading them first and you really have to look in between the lines in order the find the message that they are trying send to the readers

if you have never read The Bible I would suggest reading the New Testament first. Then try the Old Testament. Very good reading.

I do not read the Bible. It is not necessary for salvation. Only belief in your heart is. I have read passages of it, for school and such, and you read it like you would read anything else.

there is a right way and a wrong way to read it. The wrong way is to read it. The right way is to burn it and become a hippie.
