Why are the worst rappers the only ones that get radio play?

I mean, there are so many other amazing rappers that make amazing songs that never get any radio play. You get all these garbage songs that are constantly on the radio and you never here the guys that can actually rap with some nice flow. I'm not saying that everyone i hear on the radio is terrible (i some Rick Ross's songs, the new young jeezy one, and luda is always nice), but you never hear guys like The Roots, Lupe Fiasco, and Mos Def (who is by far one of the best rappers of all time) who make loads of good songs but never get any recogntion

Because of a little thing called Payola. People think that it has gone away but I am totally convinced that a lot of radio stations take pay from the Artists label to keep their songs in continuous rotation. How is it that on your favorite radio station you hear the same 5 freakin' songs within 1 hour of each other????? It is getting to the point where I can pretty much guess what they are gonna play next.

I agree with you about true artists - they never get any radio play.
If I ever get a radio station - which is one of my dreams, I am gonna play who I want, when I want!

i agree. i havent heard any real rap in a long time. they just slap a generic beat on some line like "put ur pinkies in tha air, put ur pinkies in tha air, an lean wid it, yo shoaty wut ya doin ova thar" and i think ill strangle myself if i see another "to be continued" in curly white letters at the end of this crap.

I guess the reason is becuase personality is the most important thing in the business. if u get a buncha people to love fiddy cent they will buy everything he does and take their word for it that it is good. people really need to start thinking for themselves and stop buying this stuff, if they want to see a change in the industry.
