I own a store and we have a wonderful mail man. I know it is not always proper to tip your postal carrier, but we talk to him 5 days a week and we will be giving out gift cards to our store to our other delivery people. Given the situation, do you still think it is improper to give him a gift card also, and if not, then what value would be appropriate?

I'm just wondering what type of store you have...anyway, he obviously likes the things you sell or he wouldn't be giving it as gift cards. no one wants to give junk gifts so he must like the stuff. if you talk to him 5 days a week, i would give him a gift card for double at least of the highest gift card that he bought to give others. if he bought 20.00 gift cards, i would give him AT LEAST 40. reason being:
1. he's your mailman
2. you talk to him every day so he's a friend in some proportion
3. he patronizes your store by giving your gift cards to others so he has faith in the product you sell
4. whatever your merchandise is, you are only actually paying what your cost is (and your time is part of the gift as well) which is cheaper than buying the same amount of gift card from Wilmar
Merry Christmas!!!

You should give him money not a gift card so if you give him money he can spend it where he wants but with a gift card he can only go to one store!! The appropriate amount would be about 15 dollars!!!

A gift card would probably be more appropriate than money. But I do think that postal carriers are prohibited from accepting any gifts or gratuities.

i'd give him a gift instead of money if it were me. but a gift card is ok. no more than 20 bucks, i'd say, but also i have no idea what kind of store you own or how much things in ur store cost.
