Yes, I do have an appointment at the doctors for a pregnancy test, before you tell me to do that. But I'm not showing any of the signs of pregnancy, nor any signs of an approaching belated period. I am baffled, and a little freaked, and was just hoping someone might have some idea of the cause of all this.

You could test again with a highly sensitive brand of pregnancy test. You hCG levels may be low and that's what makes the test turn. Try First Response or Clear Blue Easy. Here's a link to more brands and their sensitivity. You can check the brand you used to test.

There are a variety of things that can cause dramatic changes in women's menstrual cycle.

On the minor side, if you are particularly athletic, under abnormal stress, or fighting a strong virus, it can cause late or absent periods.

The more major, it could be signs of something very seriously wrong, like cancer.

It is not a bad idea to get a formal pregnancy test to rule that out but if the test shows that you are not pregnant, you should see your doctor for a more formal investigation.

I used to work for an ob/gyne, if a test was positive then you're pregnant. You never get a false positive. However, I would make sure that you are following the directions for the test correctly. If left for too long and not read at the correct time you could get an incorrect response. Also, stress will inhibit your period from starting. So, calm down. Best of luck.

You can skip periods because the sun wasnt shining on tuesday. Your body really doesnt have to have a good reason for it, atleast not one that you can notice.

I wouldnt worry about it. And I also wouldnt let your doctor put you on hormonal therapy without extensive testing into the cause. Because I can promise you that if youre not pregnant, and have skipped your period for nearly two months, thats what she's going to try to do.

Its rediculous and unnessisary to force control on your body's natural cycles with synthetic hormones, it usually causes more harm than good, and doctors do it repeatedly because when you're on birth control you're required to see them every few months, and they make money on those appointments and testing, and all kinds of other procedures.

Stress, weight change, diet, sickness, false pregnancy, change in lifestyle, increased exercise... anything like this can effect if, when, and how much of a period you have.

I'm boggled that you think you can get better advice from strangers that don't know you, have never examined you, and are for the most part, NOT DOCTORS.

You can always call your doctor's office and ask any urgent question over the phone. A nurse should relay your question to the doc, and call you back with advice or to schedule an urgent visit.

Stop "being" baffled and freaked and Start "doing" what it takes to resolve the issue.

Some home pregnancy tests are tough to read. Try one of the digital ones, much simpler to read.

I never showed any signs, except an odd craving for red meat. You could be late due to stress? Good luck......

You won't show signs until you are around 4 months pregnant. If you don't know that you may want to reconsider if you are ready to be a parent
