Best thing I have ever done...lost 200 lbs...I am 131 lbs today...2 years after surgery...no complications...or diabetes, high blood pressure etc... I look and feel BEAUTIFUL...DO IT :)

It is hard at first because you cannot eat like everyone else but you get used to it...and eventually you will be able to eat but not a lot so you have to be careful on what you eat...you do not want to waste calories....

Dont expect everyone to eat different because you are eating different....You are the one with the surgery...been there done that :)

Eat small portions, stop as soon as you feel full...drink your protein shake everyday, even if it taste like sand...you have to drink it....

Dont forget your multivitamins and your b-12...I had trouble with my b-12 and trust me it is not fun to have weekly shots...

Dont eat or cook with fat or you will regret it...sugar dumping syndrome can really take a toll on you. Use cooking sprays instead.....

Use baby spoons instead of regular spoons (right size), buy lots of 4 ounce plastic containers, have a small cooler that you can take around with healthy snacks and drinks...have a small food processor.

When you go out to restaurants always ask for a to go box when you get your food and immediately remove from your plate what you cannot eat. Out of sight, out of mind.

Drink lots of water, no sodas AT ALL (it will stretch your pouch) or juice drinks.

Start exercising right away...

Get followed by a nutritionist that specializes in gastric bypass.

And keep a food journal so you can review it with your nutritionist...

Dont get dissapointed if at some point you stop losing weight...it is normal...and your body will know when tp stop...sometimes you lose inches but your weight stays the same...

One more thing...dont weigh yourself everyday....you will not see results any faster. Take your scale out of your bathroom, put it away, only get it out when you are going to use it and weigh yourself at the same time when you do (best time is the morning).

GOOD LUCK! your life is going to change...you are going to look totally different...and people will treat you different but you need to stay true to yourself...you are still the same person...also be sure to have a good support group...

If you are married, I suggest you go to family therapy...this surgery will affect ALL your relationships...trust me...I got divorced after I lost the weight and I blame it on this surgery.

I had gastric pass -- the roux-en-y -- in early 2004. I lost approximately a hundred thirty kilos and take care of a BMI of 20. I won't lie - there have been circumstances while that is been perplexing, yet... sure, i might do it returned. i did not have lots relatives help. in actuality, my husband became into adamantly against it. once you're interior the approach of approval, you already understand the standards for having the surgical operation so I won't pass into that. I chosen gastric omit lap band because of the fact I felt there became right into a greater helpful possibility for me to maintain the load off. i think of between the main mandatory issues so which you could bear in mind however is that the surgical operation is on your abdomen, not on your concepts. in case you're unhappy including your existence, your husband, your interest, and so on. you will nonetheless be unhappy with those issues once you're have a common BMI. i'm unable to rigidity that sufficient! sure, that's super being waiting to shop for garments everywhere, and not aggravating approximately whether i will greater healthful into the sales area on the diner, and not having sleep apnea, and so on. sure, my husband nonetheless makes me prefer to scream often times, I nonetheless have "down" days, and... existence isn't suited, whether that's greater helpful.

I know several people that have had this done. Not one of them did not have complications due to this. It seems the easy way out, but it is not the healthest by far.
