I bought a pair of shoes online, but 1/2 size smaller from my size 9. I only wear the shoe like once every two weeks. Lately, when I try on my other shoes that is size 9, it feels a lot loose. Can your feet actually get smaller by wearing a shoe that is slightly smaller?

They can't actually get smaller but they can push your toes in, so they get more narrow and it can even cause other deformities like severe bunions. Just like the corsets used to pinch womens' waists and they'd actually get a deformed figure. It's hell on your feet, buy shoes that are the proper size!

I would think the opposite would happen. The tight shoe would rub your foot, hurt it and make it swell up, at least in places, so that overall your poor, hurting foot would get bigger, not smaller!
However, shoe sizes vary . . . depending on the shoe, I've worn everything from a 10 1/2 to a 12 with equal comfort! So if your foot isn't hurting, the shoe you bought on line was probably a "big" 8 1/2!

8 - 9 if I cannot fit into a size 8 in the shops - for shoes/boots - often end up buying mens, as womens shoes in an 8 do not fit me - usually with socks I have to buy size 7-11 socks! For slippers, I am a size 9/10!

No your feet can't get smaller. You can actually do serious harm to your feet by wearing shoes that are the incorrect size.

Did you know that at the end of the day , your foot actually is bigger than in the morning? Hmmm...try them on at the same time of day next time. No your foot can't "shrink". If you are thinking in relation to actual footbinding as in asia, that is done at a very young age to conform the foot to very tiny disfigured size.
