I'm pretty sure it's a hit rock song, kinda old, and definitely not alternative. I believe it's classic rock. And one word that I remember from the whole song is "time." (But it's NOT Time by Pink Floyd)

God... I know the song...in my head, but can't think of the title. It's a sixties song when groups like Vanilla Fudge and Grandfunk Railroad were in full force. It was played in the movie "Bad Dreams".
