When I try to move the mouse, it goes very slow, then all of a sudden it catches up. When I type the letters do not appear, but all of a sudden, they all show up.
I defragged the system, ran antivirus, downloaded System Mechanic 7, everything checked out with no problem. But this is still lagging. Last time I had this clearing out the temp internet files and defragging was enough. Not enough now. Best answer to whomever fixes it :)

Well, first of all, i know its not your monitor or anything too high tech, your computer is just slow, mine used to do the same thing, buy some more ram and put it in and it will be good. Or it could be a virus or spyware slowing it down, or anything else that makes your computer go slow. But i would do a ram upgrade

depends on background programs and what else is going on with your pc...you may have run an antivirus but you could still have a root kit or possibly a trojan....its not always cut and dry as to what causes this sort of thing but start by checking if there are any background programs running that may be using up your memory like any backup programs or scans....any editing programs that may be running or pretty much any kind of program that uses resources. If you have Norton that may be causing the lag right there.

Weird....
It sounds like an issue with your video drivers, or your screens resolution. Try the following:
1. Minimize all open windows, right click on desktop and select properties. Click on the settings tab and adjust your screen resolution... If your monitor is an lcd monitor make sure you have the monitor set at its "native" resolution (check the manual)
if that doesn't fix it....
2. Go to your computer's or graphics card's manufacturers web site and download the latest version of the graphic (video) drivers. They may not have installed properly

well antivirus software cannot always catch everything. The reason defragging didn't work could be because your hard drive is more full now and you have more things using up your RAM

First of all, pull up your Start menu and find Disk Defragmenter. Choose your main disk drive and start the defragmentation. That should help a lot. If not, you might try consolidating some of your files or see what suggestions File Manager has.

Its probably computer performance, maybe you need more ram to make the computer run faster, because any typing programs uses alot of ram, or it could be a virus or spyware.

Easiest (and most destructive) solution is reformatting, but it also may be a physical problem with your mouse. Try another mouse. If it doesn't, I would just reformat.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

regardless of what is actually the problem, i'd clean the mouse (if it's an older model with the ball inside), and clean the keyboard too.
