I think it appeals to the whole family. (Well probably not grandma and grandpa) There are some kids games but there are also some more adult games that are really fun. Plus many third party games are more mature then the games nintendo is making.

ahhh yes, what I've been saying all along...
The Wii is far too gimmicky. If it weren't for the new controllers, the system would not have much success. Once the novelty of the weird little stick controllers wears off, the Wii will become far less popular.
The only thing the Wii has going for it besides the nifty controllers is its affordability. The actual quality of the Wii's gameplay just doesn't stack up to an Xbox 360, a PS3, or a high end PC.
Personally, I don't think I want one. I already have an Xbox 360, and I'm satisfied with it.

I don't think it's a gimmick. I think Nintendo should be praised for being innovative, and focusing on solely the gaming industry. Sony and Microsoft are involved in other areas of consumer electronics -and they're both great- but Nintendo is purely about the games, and their role in people's lives. If you think about it, the idea of incorporating movement and gaming has been coming on gradually for a few years anyway (dance mats, guitar hero, drum sets)
I think if some innovation wasn't included, then the industry would go stale, and be gradually integrated into other electronic devices.
(btw, it really is a family thing -I was surprised at my Grandad phoning me wanting to play the Wii after seeing the TV advert!)

I don't want a Wii. I am happy with my PlayStation and prefer sitting down to standing up and waving my arms about, thank you.
Isn't the point of playing video games to relax? I wouldn't call waving a white stick in the air relaxing, would you? I mean, wouldn't your arms get tired after a couple of hours?
I'll admit it's innovative, but so was every other games console.

i love nintendo and have for years. im 21 now and am getting the console as soon as possible. it does seem a bit of a gimmick but thats jsut because noone else has done it yet. if the controler works and people like it, the next generation of consoles after the ps3 and 360 will use it

I got the wii. Its better than the stories u heard about them. The wii is much more entertianing than your standard consoles (ps2, xbox360 etc.). You are more invovled in the games than you normally would be.
Its worth it
