Actually the missing digits could be any number. You did not specify if the 2_ _ 5 number was a perfect square or not. The answer is 2025 only if the factors need to be whole numbers. If that is the case then yes 2025 will work. If not any two digits could be put in the middle and the answer would be an irrational number, but both factors would be the same none the less. Now go impress your math teacher.

2AB5 = x^2

Therefore, x = √(2AB5)

The smallest value for 2AB5 is 2005.
√(2005) = 44.8

The largest value for 2AB5 is 2995.
√(2995) = 54.7

So x must >= 45 and <= 54.

The last digit of 2AB5 is a 5.
The only way to get a 5 from x^2 is for the
last digit of x to be a 5, because 5^2 = 25.

The only number in the range from 45 to 54,
that ends in a 5 is 45, so x = 45.

45^2 = 2025
Therefore, AB = 02.
