from a historical stand point, who sat down and decided that "curse words" are bad? What are some of the real definitions of the words we consider profane?

Some of the words have come from religion. If you say bad things using God's name, like "Godd*mn You", it is as though you are taking the place of God and that has always been severely frowned upon.

Some are from the corruption of words like "Blimey" which means "Blind me!" also calling upon God to do something. We do not have the right to order God about..

Other words are to do with the bodily functions and in Europe, those were and are considered inappropriate things to talk about. So, "F*** you" is rude.

Does this help? No-one can get it all right all the time, so we are in this answering community and all do our bit.

Society did. One person got offended and soon many people were offended. It's just like religion, one person starts a stupid religion that has killed millions like christianity than everyone follows.
