If you played a year and a half you will really not need something expensive. A squire might be good to start off with as they are a cheap Fender basically. if you want to spend a little more a fender is good because stratocaster and telecaster modles are very simple inside and so are open to anything. Most fenders dont have humbuckers and have single coil pickups making very smooth sounds. If you want rock get an Epiphone because they are the same as gibson basically but a gibson is about 5 times the price. I play an IBanez and have big hands and find it a little difficult but it is really awesome for anything. Guitarists like Joe Satriani and Steve vai play Ibanez but alot of famous guitarists use Fender. Eddy Van Halen, Eric Johnson Hope I helped

No, Sqier sucks. don't listen to 'Renegade of Funk.' And also, like cadaholic said, you should spend a lot of time asking questions at guitar center, and play guitars there - but I would most definitely STAY AWAY FROM BUYING GUITARS THERE. All of them are worn somehow, and plus they screw you on prices (usually). Go to a smaller shop, or get a guitar from the internet. My personal fav would be the Fernandes Vortex flying v. It looks SO AMAZING!!

a good beginner guitar is an epiphone special....they have a pack that comes with an amp and stuff(picks strap etc)...they arent much and if ya dont stick with it...ya didnt lose much....and if ya do, theres room for improvement,i bought one for a backup 7 years ago and still have it...i swaped out the pickups and it actually plays and sounds better than a $900 Jackson i had...thats the route i recommend...check out the deals here...i buy from them all the time www.musiciansfriend.com
