the AL is by far the stronger league. the Nl usually has better hitters- on paper- that is. meaning their stats my look better, but thats because the NL's pitching blows. the AL has won like the last 7 all-star games, except for 1 tie like 2 years ago. the NL doesnt win as many world series's either. ive been a baseball fan ALL my life so i think i would know this stuff. u can go to MLB.com and look at some stats. the AL is stronger. oh and being from boston...GO SOX!
I'm editing this answer....
-Philip you stole my answer...copied and pasted. so dont think im an idiot who wouldnt notice that.
-and to the person who said the cardinals snapped a 7 year AL worldseries champoins streak- learn some facts before u speak. in 2001 the diamondbacks (a NL team) won the world series, and in 2003 the marlins did (also another NL team. sure the white sox in 05, RED SOX in 04 and the angels in 02 won, but also the dbacks and the marlins. and no the cardinals. in 00 it was the subway series i think. yankees and mets....the yankees won, 99 it was yankees and braves. and thats when i was 7 so i forget the others. i know the marlins won in 97. the yankees beat the padres in either 96 or in 98, but i forget which. all in all, the AL has better performances. you may say "well the NL has better hitting", but thats because the pitching is bad. the pitching is bad cuz they actually hit. this causes a sorer arm, and less time to practice pitching because they have to hit. i personally believe that the AL is stronger, but some people may think opposite. you really gotta think the whole thing through before you choose sides. like the west division in the NL, well not this year, but most of the past years, none of the teams finished above .500 win %. the strongest teams in the NL are worse than the middler teams in the AL, so you can choose what you wanna think, but the AL is definitly stronger and better

The NL and the AL are two very diffrent leagues, and here is why, the NL is a more electric league. The teams in the NL are more fun to watch because they use strategy to win a game like the hit and run, the art of a stolen base, double switch, pinch hitter and pinch runner. They have great players like Jose Reyes, David Wright, Alfonso Soriano, Derek Lee, Jacque Jones, Rafael Furcal, Juan Pierre, Brad Penny, Ryan Howard, Craig Biggio, Carlos Delgado, Carlos Beltran, Chris Carpenter, Albert Pujols, and the list does not end there it continues on and on. It is a great league and i hate how people are always saying that the NL is a weeker league and teams like the Mets and Cardinals prove that it is a great league just like the AL.The AL relyes on the home run alot when the NL not so much.

American League has better pitching and more sluggers. Pujols and Howard sure help the N.L. though.
If you go position by position let's see.
pos Player League AVG HR RBI SLG
1B Pujols N.L. .331 49 137 .671
2b Cano A.L. .342 15 78 .525
SS Jeter A.L .343 14 97 .483
3B Cabrera N.L .339 26 114 .568
C Mauer A.L .347 13 84 .507
OF Dye A.L .315 44 120 .622
OF Berkman N.L .315 45 136 .621
OF Guerrero A.L .329 33 116 .552
DH Howard N.L. .313 58 149 .659
yes, over Ortiz whos stats are .287 54 137 .636
My vote for hitters is 5 for A.L. and 4 for N.L. so A.L. for hitting
PItching: best 5
Name League ERA W L SO
Santana A.L 2.77 19 6 245
Halladay A.L 3.19 16 5 132
Carpenter N.L. 3.09 15 8 184
Oswalt N.L. 2.98 15 8 166
Rodriguez A.L 1.73 47 saves 98
pitching 3-2
pitching stats are skewed a little because of the DH in the National League.
Overall, the A.L. is tougher and the All Star games and World Series games seem to tell the tale, Except this world series of-course because the Tigers pitchers can't field and throw to a base.

AL is far and beyond the better League. Their pitching is superior ex. Santana, Schilling, Zito, Wang, Papelbon, Rivera, Mussina, etc.
Hitting in the AL is more of and RBI and HR league versus the Average hitting NL. Its more of a toss up but i measure hitting by runs and that is the AL. You have David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Jeter, Mornaeu, Mauer, Thomas, Dye, Rodriguez, Giambi, Matsui, Ichiro. The NL has Howard, Pujols who are dominating but their list isn't as long. Also, the AL has the DH which is a built in buffer. Speed is an NL thing. Stolen bases and 3B are a more common-place in the larger NL stadiums. Defensively it is a tie because neither league is 'orientated' to defense it's more of a team by team basis more defense.

It depends. In the AL there is a DH like David Ortiz which can come in handy in games. In the NL the pitchers hit and they get pretty good. The pitchers in the AL in interleague play have hardly any experience hitting so it doesn't go so well. It all depends on what team and style of play you like.

The AL for sure. Look at inter-league play last year. The AL teams won 2/3 of the games or something ridiculous like that.
I know I'm in the minority, but I happen to like the DH. Who wants a .150-batting rally-killer at the end of their line-up? Pitchers are there to pitch, not bat, let them grab some bench.

Cardinals broke the streak of like 7 AL WS championships. Also, the AL has won the All-Star Game the last 3 times. Before that was a tie, before that a few more AL winners.

I think its impossible to tell. It all depends on the players. But, the problem is players keep getting traded between leagues. Also, in terms of statistics, you get league leaders from both leagues. Some people may argue AL because of the DH. But, having a DH can also have its disadvantages. I think its impossible to say which is better. It all depends on what you like.
