JFK and RFK were instrument in the civil rights movement they were democrats. Strom Thurmond, a Republican was a segregationist, Ronald Reagan brough Mexicans into the United States to work with promises of citizenship and then deported them back when he didn't need them, Bushie was the first president in modern history to refuse to speak at the NAACP, Republicans see blacks as a bunch of lazy Ni@@ers and us Hispanics as a bunch of spics. It is a party of racism yet people like Alan Keyes and Mel Martinez continue to lick the boots of the party. Is this some kind of S/M fantasy

Why would minorities vote Republican? Voting machine "error".

Strom was a Democrat when he was for segregation.
If you believe in the American way, where you work hard and save your money to get ahead, you would probably be a Republican. If you think you should be able to eat out 3 times a week and then receive financial aid because you can't afford groceries, you would probably be a Democrat.
Edit
IN August of 2002 my family lived in a tent. We started working at Burger King, my husband got a second job at Wal Mart. In Oct.2002 we moved into an Apt that we saved for. In April 2006 we bought our own home. We don't eat out and we don't celebrate Christmas and Birthdays except by doing nice things for each other. That is the American way!

You don't know anything about what you are talking about when it comes to racism and civil rights for that matter. It was the Democratic party that filibustered the Civil Rights Act - meaning, ii would not have passed if it were not for a mojority of Republicans voting for it. Minorities are turning to the GOP because they are wising up to the decades of the Democratic empty promises. They've seen minorities get important roles in the goverment that the Democrats have only promised "someday". I think the S/M is the other way for those who refuse to open their eyes and "smell the coffee". Nice try though.

Brilliantly oversimplified!
Maybe, since the Republican party theoretically represents the most conservative of our two most viable parties, some minorities support them. Supporting maybe-conservative fiscal policy could be a better idea than supporting probably-not-conservative fiscal policy.
I suppose some people don't feel we need government doing for us what we do better for ourselves and hope that they might find viable representatives who feel the same.
I don't vote for either anymore. Kinda supporting me could be miscronscrued as kinda supporting what I don't like. I try to be as unambigous as I can.
I suppose I could use your way of thinking and talk about how liberal democrats treat you like children, who they don't respect, but are stupid enough to vote for them. You want the government to give you things that our system allows you to freely go and get yourself, but you'd have to get off your *** and just do it like the rest of us have to do. It's a much brighter world when you take it upon yourself to solve your problems instead of sitting around and bitching. I don't know what young man or woman living in a bad urban environment couldn't save a few bucks up while working if they were determined to and move to a better environment and continue to look for and work for prosperity.
I guess solving these problems just isn't all that simple, we all do our best.

You think you made a point by bringing up a very few examples and very broad generalizations that agree with you. By defining the entire party like that, which is definitely not true, you are doing exactly what you claim to dislike about the party - making broad incorrect generalizations. The only point you have made is proving your own ignorance.

Maybe they are trying to feather their own nest. I really dont know but I wish we had a party that would NOT look down on racism. We are so backward when it comes to race and its not fair. We all need to be an equal individual and quit harping on race . to me whats the use? The Blacks as well as in Hispanics need a chance in our society as they are tax payers and have a right to vote . They need a VOICE as well as anyone else. Those ***-h**** who are doing the boot licking are just looking out for themselves and not doing anything about the racism of their heritage. Just a bunch of low lifes if you ask me.Let one hand feed the other.TO hell with anyone that gets in their way!!

With 85 percent of blacks voting Democratic, I don't think we have to worry about a few who don't understand the policies of the Republican party. Most of those are Republican for money, like the black ministers that came out for Bush because they were getting money from his faith-based initiatives. The really strange group are those log cabin Republicans who vote for a party that openly despises everything about their lifestyle; what's that about? Excellent question!

Because some people are great liars. I dumped the democrats years ago because I felt they no longer represented me, I became an Independent. The last eleven years have cemented my idea of the republican party. The party of greed. Tell me one thing they have done that benefited the average American more than it benefited a rich person. One thing.

They are easily won over. Bush won't push for enforcement of immigration laws, so they back him because it is their cause. Haven't you noticed how the Republicans have tried to win the vote from groups with special interests. They send their daughters to have problems "taken care of", but they mouth a pro-life line. They are pretty much a reflection of society as far as gay/straight but they buy off the far right wing by opposing equal rights for all citizens. It's easy to get a vote from someone who is focused on a single issue.

Did it occur to you that members of minority groups want what members of the majority want? A secure country? A strong economy? Opportunities for everyone? Makes sense to me.
