No. Change both to a common denominator. The LCD would be 24. 2/3= 16/24 (multiply both top and bottom by 8) 4/8=12/24 (multiply both top and bottom by 3). Also you could reduce 4/8 to 1/2, and think about the sizes of 2/3 of a pie and 1/2 a pie -- obviously not the same size.

2/3 = /12 3 is going into 12 =4X 2 X 4 = 8 2/3=8/12 equalizing the denominators is larger than having an answer purely given to you or reckoning on the lower back of the e book. This works with all fractions

2/3 is not equivalent to 4/8 because 4/8 simplified = 1/2, and 2/3 can not be simplified any further.

first, reduce the fractions to the smallest denominator: 2/3=2/3 4/8=1/2
Now we have 2/3 and 1/2
Find the common denominator that both 3 and 2 will divide into evenly - and that's 6.
We now have 4/6 and 3/6. As you can easily see, 4/6 is obviously larger than 3/6.

nope...

there are two ways on how to get it

first, you can apply cross multiply

is 2 x 8 equal to 3 x 4?
1s 16 equal to 12 ?...
It's definitely no...

second, get the LCD of these 2
there LCD is 24
2/3 = 16/24
4/8 = 12/24

16/24 is not equivalent to 12/4

therefore, 2/3 is not equivalent to 4/8
