My daughter's name is Alex....Haley is a little feminine but that's the same as boys named Kelly etc. Alex Haley sounds good together....at least you didn't try to change the spelling to be 'unique'.

For a girl - no, Alex is a boys name

Alex Haley is/was an American author, i remember him most for a book titled Roots, about slavery. it was made into a tv movie which went on for a few weeks. see
