i just bought a fender telecaster but i dont know if this is the sound im looking for, even tho i absolutley love the guitar.
i payed 320 for a 400 dollar guitar.
should i trade in the fender for an epiphone les paul?
or perhaps an epiphone dot?
input.
and if you would specify whether or not you play one thatd be uber cool.

For rock it's telecaster by a narrow margin. For ANYTHING else it's the Les Paul.

It's like apples and oranges. Everyone's already said it, but it's true. They're two entirely different guitars. A Les Paul is the workhorse of hard rock/metal. A Les Paul will sound fantastic with distortion and will go great with heavier stuff (but it can work for a lot of stuff). If you want just a good all-around guitar (won't work for metal or more distorted stuff, though), a Telecaster is the better choice. So. If you want a good, heavy, rock/metal oriented guitar, I'd suggest Les Paul. But if you want just a good all-around guitar, get a Tele.
