I'm not black, but I used to be stationed in Japan and saw how some of the black guys got along. There are aspects of Japanese society where you would be accepted and also rejected.

In overall Japanese society you will be rejected because you are part Gaijin (a foreigner) and worse you are Cocojin (a black person) and you will initially get a hostile attitude from the older Japanese.

Ironically those same two facts (Gaijin & Cocojin) can provide you with rather positive reaction from some of the younger Japanese. Many of the younger Japanese are into American pop-culture like R&B, rap (Japanese rap is a trip to listen to =D), and heavy metal and are a little fasicnated with foreigners in those regards. I'm assuming your a guy... many of the black guys I knew did well with Japanese girls and being part black will probably give you the same edge, as long as you treat them decent and better than the Japanese guys, but BE CAREFUL most of the Japanese girls date black guys just to piss off their family (older Japanese that don't particularly like foreign black guys) and get back at them for something.

If you want to avoid hassles and hostile attitudes I'd advise you to learn how to speak Japanese well and assimulate into Japanese culture, don't be the typical "Loud Rude American", learn to be considerate of Japanese culture and the people. Japan is a facinating place, but its hard to appreciate if you don't know the language.

If you're a girl you're not going to like living in Japan, you'll have 3 strikes against you in that case (Gaijin, Cocojin, and female) and Japanese soceity is still rather male-oriented and women are still kinda relegated to 2nd class status.

The Japanese don't like foreigners of their nation, whether or not you are black, white, or asian! They have on the whole been an individual society, and favored viewers within the variety of travelers however no longer citizens. However, they don't seem to be racist. They are simply very remoted, and the exhibit you noticed displays the form of stereotype triggered by way of a specified cultural lack of expertise. They do not see plenty of blacks, and their humor is founded simplest on what they DO see. It's like whilst individuals make amusing of extraterrestrial beings and draw them as little inexperienced guys. We've under no circumstances obvious an alien, so we will be able to simplest cross by way of stereotypes. But it is not the identical because the US's racism, that is founded on seeing AND hating black individuals.

I would like know why u would asked such question first? are you inlove with a japanese woman? ok to answer your question..its all depends on the woman herself. I saw many Japanese girls dating with darker skin coloured men but i'm not sure if they are for real or not. If the japanese woman that u loves has the same feeling like u have now..it would be easier. but if she's a racist japanese girl..that will be a different story. if you really like her, just tell her and prepare for the consequences after telling her. Good Luck
