Because the World is overflowing with appalling political correctness so people feel they have to tie themselves in verbal knots so they don't say words that might have a religious meaning that might just offend some super-sensitive soul somewhere who happens to subscribe to a different set of beliefs.
If a Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Atheist, Totem Worshipper or anyone else is really that offended by the word CHRISTMAS then they really do need to Get A Life and start behaving like a grown-up. There is no reason that they should be offended by being wished a Merry Christmas anymore than, say, a Christian should be offended by being wished "happy Hannukah" or "happy Diwali". It is in fact a compliment to be included in someone's else's celebrations and helps bring different religions together.
I have known Jews, Muslims and Hindus who have been perfectly happy to join in with the general festive spirit without taking the least offence. I am an atheist and I'm perfectly at ease wishing people "Merry Christmas" and having people say the same to me.
Phrases like "Happy Holiday" make me want to throw up. What narrow lives must some people lead to think that wishing someone "Merry Christmas" is offensive.

People use the term winter break because Christmas break would be specific to the Christian religion. Because people are trying to be politically correct, they call it winter break which will apply to all religions rather than Christmas break which is religion specific.

i became into completely against the thirty 9th interest and that i cant see this concept getting any further off the floor, the December/January months are congested sufficient as that's, so in the event that they usher in a 12 day hollow for this new iciness injury experience, what happens to the video games that are often performed in this era? Congestion someplace else interior the season! Scud could think of his innovations by using slightly greater heavily in the previous thinking funds first, in view that's clearly what he became into thinking for the thirty 9th interest and now this, funds funds funds from distant places. with any luck the November board conferences will see the pit falls of this concept too, in the previous agreeing to this.

Because they don't want to ofend anybody, for those who celebrate Hanukah, Kwanza, etc...... They're trying to be considerate of other religions. It's the same reason why public schools cal it a Holiday Concert rather than a Christmas concert. Or why cards say Happy Holidays or Seasons greeting. Okay, i think you get the point.

I certainly don't prefer it, but it's been changed. "Winter Break" is the "politically correct" term since everyone does not celebrate christmas.
BFHD. People should get a grip.
IMHO, of course

God forbid that we should offend anyone by saying anything that would hint of Christianity. Call it Christmas Break and say it loudly.
I am not a born again or a fanatic. Hearing Happy Hanukkah doesn't offend me so why the huff about showing our belief in Christ.

Its not just a matter of preferring, but often a matter of avoiding discrimination because Christmas is exclusively a Christian holiday.

it's winter because christmas is affiliated with christian faith and that's not allowed with schools. Winter break doesn't imply religion and other religions, like jewish who celebrate haunnak, dont get offended

Because there is just a break. It is not specifically to celebrate Christmas. We are not all Christians as I am sure you know.
