You hit the nail right on the head. Bush will extend the analysis and debate on the war throughout the duration of his tenure because he knows that he and his wealthy constituency all either directly or indirectly profit off of the war effort. Almost all of Bush’s political cronies have deep seeded ties with people who capitalize on military related enterprises. Whether they be weapons manufactures who produce the machinery that drives are killing forces, or whether they are the construction and oil companies that come in and “rebuild” what we destroyed and extract and refine resources of a sovereign nation, this war, probably more than any other in recent memory, bears every mark of being manufactured for the specific purpose of garnering profit.

Look at every other “noble” reason used to justify the war in Iraq, and you will find that none of them have any legitimacy. Did the war find and eliminate weapons of mass destruction? No, none were to be found of sufficient quantity to warrant a full-scale invasion of a nation. Did the operation in Iraq eliminate tyranny? No, it only decentralized it. Now, instead of having all the brutality and criminality stemming from one source, namely Saddam, we now have multiple little tyrants in all corners of Iraq – tyrants we created - all aspiring to be what Saddam was. Did our efforts in Iraq mitigate terrorism? No, it did the opposite. It inflamed moderates to sympathize with terrorists, and where terrorists in Iraq were previously almost nonexistent before our incursion into their country, now they are bountiful.

With every “patriotic” and “freedom loving” reason propounded to the naïve public for us being there exhausted, what is left? Money. We have no lofty plan to break the shackles of fear in the Iraqi people. We had no true plan to instill a democracy, only a puppet government that is conducive to our business interests in that country. The only Americans that deny the overriding profit incentive as being the true reason for our occupation, are ones who are too deluded by their own anger at their political opposition to come to terms with reality. This is not a war that will engender change for the better, unless by BETTER you mean better revenues for corporate America.

The war isn't over yet, which skill the winner continues to be unknown. Like maximum wars, some battles are gained; some battles are lost. overall it could be honest to assert that Bush is slightly forward contained in the war on terror. easily Osama Bin encumbered has made little progression on his significant purpose, which replaced into the overthrow of corrupt governments contained in the Mid-East to get replaced by using the caliphate spanning the full Ottoman Empire of previous. There are actually 2 fledgling democracies in Iraq and Afghanistan that are no longer out of the woods yet, yet are reason for tempered optimism. The Sunnis brutally suppressed the Shiite in Iraq for some years so it is going to take it gradual for the revenge and counter revenge to play out. yet maximum severely, Bush has secured coorperation from the two the Saudis and the Pakistanis in this war on terrorists. because of the fact Bush's purpose has been containment, it must be judged a fulfillment. because of the fact OBL's purpose replaced into expansion and restructuring of the political map of the mid east it must be judged a failure. of direction the strategies and execution of the yank militia marketing campaign would have been crisper. The acsendency of Iran as a hegemonic skill contained in the area is complicated. yet on an analogous time the war is being gained. although, it is not being gained as with out postpone because of the fact the US elctorate would desire to like, and it is not being gained with out casualties, so the Bush adminsitration has attracted a super type of criticism. yet is Bush triumphing the war on terror: confident he's!

Dubya is lame duck - he'll talk about Iran till the next presidential elections.

I hope the democrats in congress and senate dig deep, to find out why did we go to war, what were the assumptions, and rationale (ya ya, 9/11 and Iraq is a sordid tale of misinformation and we all know it now).

And then, try to make this lame duck president act responsibly for the remaining period, till we can get a real president in power in '08, to salvage the situation.

He's prolonging knowing he is going to have to pull out but at the same time praying to god that the troops in Iraq find something to hold make the war at least a little worthwhile.

Why are we so much deeper in national debt because of the war if we're in there for oil and we've got it? In other words, how can we be making money off it, but going deeper into debt? I'm not saying that the war is right, but honestly, think about it.

He will analyze & talk about it for the rest of his natural life. He will try to establish that the Iraq War is/was a good thing because it's certainly the biggest part of his legacy. He'll have the rest of his life to make excuses.

As long as congress lets him. He doesn't care how many he kills. Why doesn't someone ask the Iraq's what they want. They have democracy now and Saddam is gone. American tax payers can't keep spending a billion dollars a week on this useless war. We need to take care of our own.
