You have x sets of nickels, quarters, and halves.

Then

(.05 + .25 + .50)x = 24.00
.80x = 24.00
x = 30

But there are three coins in each set. So the number of coins is:

3x = 90

you only need 1 variable to solve

.50x + .25x + .05x = 24

solve for x

.80x = 24
x= 30
30 * 3 (nickels, quarters, and dimes) = 90

you have 90 coins total.

there's thiry of each coin so there's 90 coins in all.

(.05x30)+(.5x30)+(.25x30)=answer
1.50 + 7.50 + 15.00
9.00 + 15.00
24.00
hope this helps.

this was fun thanks for posting! :)
