Minus 2 (-2) doesn't have anything to do with dilation. It has to do with the baby's positioning in your pelvis. -2 is a station of engagement.

The concept of "station" denotes the degree of engagement of the fetal head as it navigates the maternal pelvis. Station is the relationship of the presentng part to an imaginary line drawn between the ischial spines of the pelvis. The ischial spines are two bony prominences that demarcate the middle of the pelvis.

Although we assess station during the last weeks of prenatal care (or in the case of preterm labor), its most frequent application is in labor. Progress in labor is assessed by means of several parameters, namely cervical consistency (soft to firm), cervical effacement (shortening), cervical position (posterior, anterior, or mid), cervical dilatation (0 to 10 cm) and station (-4 which is just coming into the pelvis to +4 station which is on the perineum or ready to be born). When the top of the fetal head (or other presenting part as in a breech presentation), arrives at the level of the ischial spines, the baby is said to be at 0 station or "engaged.”

Primigravidas (women having their first baby) typically engage before labor and may enter labor at -1, 0 or even +1 station.

Multigravidas (women having their second or greater baby) often engage during labor.

RE:
What does minus two mean on a cervical dialation mean?

it isnt cervical dialation it is the station of your baby's head in the birth canal (hoe far up or down it may be) it starts at -3 being the highest up and then goes -2 where you are at -1, 0, +1, +2, +3 being the final station when your baby is about to crown. so if you are -2 then your baby's head is still pretty high up there but it is starting the descent down through!

Maybe you are grieving over something, or you have to get rid of something you really want to keep. On the other hand this could of been a couple (mom &dad) just passing threw going the same way as you in same place more than likely long gone by now But then again did you happen to toss any Tid bits out for the birds to see if so they may have been looking for another treat. Groups consists of moms, dads and young and sometimes their off springs as well nothing more.

minus 2 is not an option for dilation - it means that the baby is in station -2, or about 2cm above your pelvic bone. zero or engaged is even with it and beyond that are the plus numbers

The two above are completely correct it has to do with station (ie baby dropping into pelvis) not dilation.

-2 means that the baby is not moving down the birth canal yet and is still pretty high.
