there was a school policy that says that if a student was failing, that they couldn't go to the library or anywhere b/c they were failing.i had a research paper to do for 1 of my classes,& i was on the failing students list, but the research paper was my final exam for 1 of the classes that i was failing.i was able to get into the library, only thanks to the principal.i told a teacher about that policy, that u couldn't go to the library if you were failing,& she said that i could sue.i'm not saying that i would, but anyway, the point is,that the teacher then went & asked somebody about it,& they said there was no such policy.the person she asked was an administrative person.now this "policy" isn't around anymore, but i swear to u it was.is it true, that i could sue b/c they wouldn't let me go to the library b/c i was on the failing students list,if i could prove it?there isn't any way that i could prove it,even if i wanted to sue,but i was just wondering.but yeah,is it true, that i could sue?

my parents didn't beleive me, when i told them about this. the principal lies, and just gave me a pass i think, b/c otherwise i probably would've caused problems---which is true, i would have!

academic probation doesn't exist at my school---unless you're talking about after school tutorial that's required, and the student is made to go to it.

You could probably pursue some kind of legal action against the school. That's asinine for them to disallow you access to the library if you're failing. If anything, they should say you're only allowed in the library.

I would definitely take this to your principal, or get your parents to contact the Superintendent. I wish they would've pulled this stunt when I was in school.

I doubt there exists a policy barring you from the library if you are failing. But, if there is, go to the principle and if need be higher up (superintendant, PTA, etc.) and let them know that this makes no sense. PTA and other parent organizations are big helps in situations like this because they are at least listened to (a parent has more juice than a student, sad but true). Also, they will more likely take the threat of legal action seriously from an adult than a kid, if it come to that.

I thought that if you were failing then you would be put on academic probation. Which means you have to get extra help outside of school from teachers.
