Rule:
Addition- add the numerator and copy the denominator if they are similar fractions.
-if dissimilar fractions, get LCD and add

Subtraction - subtract the numerator and copy the denominator if they are similar fractions.
-if dissimilar fractions, get LCD and subtact

Multiplication - multiply numerator and numerator and denominator by denominator

Division - get the reciprocal of the second fraction and proceed to the rule in multiplication

(NOTE: the answer is always in the simplest form by getting the GCF of numerator and denominator)

2/3 - 1/4 = you have to make the denominators the same to subtract - lowest common denom is 12
so multiply 2/3 times 4/4 and 1/4 times 3/3
8/12-3/12 = 5/12

now you do your own homework - I know how to do it - that is why YOU have the homework!
