The defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 by Elizabeth the I. In a time when the thinking was that women were not supposed to have the mental capacity to even figure out the difference between their left and right foot, Elizabeth defeated the army of one the strongest political powers of its time (one of the three papal seats was in Spain, the other two were in France and Italy and none of them were fond of Elizabeth or England). I would give much to see the looks on the faces of not only the Spanish, but of her other enemies as they realize the that she posed an actual threat and had a formidable intellect and didn't need a husband to be an effective monarch.

Being a sports enthusiast, I saw and still don't believe the performance Secretariat ran in the 1973 Belmont, as much as I would love to have been there when Man 'O War was foaled or when Babe Ruth hit his 60th home run. So many events, it is hard to pick just one.

But, the greatest event in history is right now, as I eagerly anticipate what tomorrow will bring.
