If your boyfriends parents gave you a$5 gift and gave his brothers girlfriend a gift card to your favorite clothing store would it bother you? Would you think its rude?

Yes, it would probably bother me, for the simple fact that they should have given you both something of equal value. It could be that she's known her other sons girlfriend, for a longer time and they feel that they owe her more than just 5 dollars. I personally don't think that was right of them, it would make me feel like they thought lesser of me, than they do her. Actions speak louder than words, that's for sure! That was quite dirty of his parent's, to do you like that.

I would be hurt, because I would feel that they valued her more than they valued me. Probably the other couple is older and possibly becoming engaged, so I shouldn't have recognized any difference. Possibly the other girl has been dating that brother much longer or they have a more serious relationship. OR, maybe, she gave them an expensive gift and they felt obligated to spend more than they had planned.

If they gave you a $5 gift certificate and they gave her a $50 gift certificate and the boys are twins, I would not do anything about it, as anything I might do would put me in a bad light. I would feel slighted and would not be comfortable in that setting.

One last thought, maybe she has no family, and this is the only gift she will receive and they wanted to make up for that.

that's rude... if I was going to give someone else more than another person... I would not do it right in front of the one getting the smaller gift... maybe its because they new her longer but they could have gave the two of you the same thing ... then in private gave her an additional gift... I have had this happen to me and it's very rude... don't let it bother you though... forget it ... it ain't worth your time fretting over it..

i know they say it's the thought that counts BUT no offense by why would anyone bother giving someone a $5.00 gift card. doesn't seem like they put too much thought into that. it's not rude if that is all they could afford, but it is rude if you know they could have spent more than $5.00.

yes, but maybe they don't think much of you. That is their problem, not yours. Don't get revengeful or hurt, just relize some people aren't thoughful and if you act like them, you won't teach them anything. Sorry your feelings got hurt, rise above it and keep your head up.
