I mean, they already have no shot at the playoffs, why not lose and get one of the best picks in the draft?

seems a good a strategy as any, but does it really matter if they get a top pick, they have proven time and again they don't use their picks wisely

Although tempting, many of the players are not concerned with a draft pick for their team but rather whether they'll have a job next year. Plus, I think, despite their record, the Lions are actually heading in the right direction. This offseason they just need to pick up some players to fill the holes, fire millen, and make the best of whatever draft pick they end up with.

As an avid Lions fan, an awesome pick in the draft is not what the Lions need. The Ford family needs to sell the team to someone who actually cares about winning games!

the best draft pick won't help them. they are probably going to draft an outside linebacker in the first round for the next two years. I was so sure that Matt Millen wanted to Sims to go out on offense and catch a few balls. the Lions just can't seem to draft good. as good of a player Ernie Sims is, the Lions did not really need a linebacker. to me i thought they needed a QB to throw to those 1 round draft pick WRs

They are better off losing their GM than losing the remainder of their games to get a high draft pick.

Not like they're going to have a lot of choice in the matter (they're at Green Bay, host Chicago, and visit Dallas). They have a shot against the Packers, but that's about it.

Yes, they can trade down for multiple picks so whoever can grab Quinn and Smith.

the fans think they should do it. but a coach wouldnt encourage their team to lose. he could lose his job big time unless he makes a good impression at the end of he year
