I am so tired and get out of breath so easily. I get dizzy so easily.. If I sleep 12 hours, I am up for not even an hour and I am so tired again. I lay around all day and sleep and sleep and sleep. After being up for an hour, I am ready for bed again. Only just started my 13'th week and it is getting worse... is this normal?

while it is normal to be extra sleepy when pregnant, this seems a bit extreme to me
i would discuss this with your doctor, it might be something as simple as low iron in your blood which can be easily remedied with an iron supplement
or, there could be a more serious condition causing this. dont hesitate, please call your doctor ASAP, your health or the health of your baby may depend on it

people should read the questions before they answer you are pregnant not tired from having a new born!!! it is very normal to be very tired although it should ease soon but every one is different. have you had any ultrasounds yet? this type or dramatic energy loss is very common in multiple pregnancies my niece is having twins she is 4 months along and sleeps around 18 hours a day and is still tired all the time. try to eat high energy foods Milo is a good one and try and go for a walk around the block exercise builds energy levels and just rest you will need to be as refreshed as possible before the 3-4 hourly feeding starts once baby is born good luck and congratulations

Yes the sleepiness is very normal in the first trimester and those symptoms tend to fade away around 16 weeks. I can't sleep now I am 20 weeks and suffer from pregnancy insomnia which is also normal. So be thank because its either one way or the other. Alots going on in your body.

Oh boy! I sure do remember that tired stage! Yes it is normal and it sucks! Especailly trying to do school for about 11 hours straight. Just get some rest eat some Bananas! That will give you a little energy but yes it is normal. It feels like you can't accomplish anything!! It will be over soon!!

Absolutely! I had a coffee addiction at the begining of my pregnancy then it started making me sick. Vitamin B will boost your energy, so will lots of fruits. Good luck, it comes and goes. Mine still does and I'm 19 weeks. I got my good days-I got my not so good days, the more you sleep the sleepier you get also. Maybe you are not reaching the REM stage that you need to reach to make you feel relieved. Try reading or taking a nice long bath before bedtime. When you wake up do some simple stretches (after you go pee). It'll get your blood flowing....

You should see the doctor to be sure you aren't anemic since I can't tell whether or not you are just pregnant or the baby is just born. If you are still pregnant, I don't think you should be so extremely tired, though some is normal. It could also be your thyroid, which could be low or even gestational diabetes. You really should tell the doctor about this and have blood work done. Good luck!

Very normal, but a newborn needs to be fed every 4 hrs so how is it that you sleep for 12? It is very hard to get adjusted, are there friends/family that can help you and take care of the baby while you get some rest? If not, try to sleep when the baby sleeps, on the same schedule will make things alot less hectic for you. Good luck.

I am the same way and Im only 7 wks. With my first two I felt wonderful and never had any side effects. This pregnancy is throwing me for a loop because I didnt expect it. My doctor said its completely normal and should subside during the second trimester. Congrats!

No, it's not normal. The first thing I would look at is my diet and exercise. I too found that this was my daily routine but once I changed my diet and began exercising... I felt much better. Also... do you suffer from high blood pressure or diabetes? These too will make you awfully tired!

Yes, this is pretty normal. Hormones are changing and your body is adjusting to it. Make sure you are taking your prenatals. Also make sure the doc is checking your bloodcount. If that is okay then it is just the hormones.
I'm pregnant with number 9 and I have done exactly what you describe every time.
