You need to graph it? Then the y-intercept is 5 an the slope is 2. So find point (0,5) and go up 2 spaces, then right one. plot a point and draw a line between the 2 expanding beyond the points.

Your question is not all that clear but I assume you mean what is the value of Y when X = 0 and what is the value of X when Y = 0?
Also, possibly what is the gradient of the line?

When X = 0, Y = 2*0 + 5
Y = 5

When Y = 0, 0 = 2X + 5
2X = -5
X = -5/2
X = -2.5

The other answers suggest drawing a graph. You can do this but as you see from above this is not necessary. However, the question you have been asked could want you to do this. You should be able to tell from what you have bee doing in th classroom.

If so, select a range of values for X, for example -2, -1, 0, 1, 2 and work out the corresponding value of Y. Plot the points and draw the straight line.

Y = 2X + 5 is the equation of a straight line of course corresponding to the general form Y = aX + b. Although you only need two point it is always a good idead to work out a third or even a fourth to check you have not made any mistakes in your calculations.

b is the intercept on the Y axis and in this instance = 5. It is the value of Y when X = 0.

a is the gradient of the straight line and for this equation = 2. because a is > 0 the straight line will slope upwards from left to right.

y = 2x + 5 is the equation of a straight line.

When x=1, y = 2(1)+5 = 7.
When x=2, y = 2(2)+5 = 9.

With these 2 coordinates, (1, 7) and (2, 9), you're able to plot out the line.

You have one equation with 2 variables, this is not enough information to solve for X or Y, you can rearrange to get (Y-5)/2 =X. To solve you need 2 independent equations then you can solve graphically(where the curves intersect) or algebraically, sorry could'nt be more help.

This looks like part of a simultaneous equation, whats the second part? If you're transposing for the co-efficient it'd be y-2x = 5.

Do u want to know the value of x? If so...
y=2x+5
y-5=2x
(y-5)/2=x

yeah you have to graph. It's already in slope intercept form so that will be easy. 5 is the y intercept and 2/1 is the slope. There are multiple solutions.

Answer is:
Y=2x+5.
In this equation if you input the value of X you get the value of Y and vice versa.
