what a crappy movie. The mom and daughter died at the ending, when the evil girl looks at them weird and then everything disappears, they are actually dead at that point.

Sharon, Rose, and Officer Bennett were killed in their car accidents that happened near the bridge. First evidence is when the three had the ability to go into the alternate dimensions and Rose's husband could not. Second evidence is that Christopher can sense her perfume, but can not see her at the school or at their house at the end. Third evidence is the cell phone conversations which were all static. Fourth evidence is the three can witness the fog while Christopher does not.

Some people question the role of the fog if it made people go to limbo(dead) or do they brainwash people in dreaming of an alternate universe?

In my opinion, it is limbo because of two evidences. First, the fog does brainwash you into a dream of an alternate dimension, that means all that is happening to them was going on while Rose and Sharon was in their car the whole time and Officer Bennett lying on the ground the whole time.

My second evidence is that I have read the book *The Inferno* by Dante Aligheri and in the book, it is possible to *die twice*. Dante explains that there are nine circles(levels) in hell that sinners are placed according to the amount of sin you commited. Therefore, when the church members died of the underground coal fires, they were in limbo. However, when they helped Christabella, they all died and went to a deeper level of sin.

Hope this helps because I'm being as logical as I can be but it is a video game and maybe it is meant to be confusing and vague

I didn't understand it either. I guess the mother and the daughter were in a different dimension of something. Or probably they died at the beginning while driving into silent hill. But whatever the movie has about it defiantly had something to do with the little girl.

I think the end suggests that they had been in a different dimension (or dead) since the beginning of the movie when they crashed their car while driving to Silent Hill.

i finished the game in all its five endings. the problem with videogame-to-big screen movie plots is that one concept would only work with one and not with the other. you can do so much to make a good video game but it may not be a good movie material. and vice versa. i would say the movie came up with an ending that's acceptable by meeting things halfway

It's based on a video game series. If you're not familiar with it, maybe that's why you were a tiny bit confused?
