I agree with you. The problem is with all of the 13-21 who are buying music these days, drama sells more than skills do. Jay said it best..."If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be lyrically Talib Kwali." The crumbcrushers are so hungry for drama that they'll listen to anything about being rich, being powerful or just being in drama. That's what happened to hip hop. Two generations ago, they birthed money hungry, drama filled people who don't understand morals and values or respect art or talent. Drama sells records. You're right, it's whack!

I'm from the old school rap era, so rap is NOT like it was when I was growing up. Rappers then rapped about how they could out rap you during a battle. Social issues. Things that mattered, made sense or was just plain funny.
Rap isn't what it use to be b/c society isn't what it use to be. Too much chaos is going on and too many egos. What people don't realize is there is enough of the pie to go around for everyone. I miss the old school way of rapping and I'm happy that I still have access to it. OLD SCHOOL FOREVA!!

I am disgusted by it. hip hop/rap used to be fun and uplifting. I am an older person who grew up on Run DMC, LL Cool J, Whodini, MC Lyte, etc..... It used to be cool, now any person with a microphone can put out a crappy album.....
