I used to love the old country music like Willie Nelson, George Jones (He stopped loving her today!), Waylon, etc. but today's singers seem so plastic, contrived, formula and actually stupid.

I have to agree that much of contemporary country music isn't. By that i mean it isn't country and is only marignally passable as music. There are still some good music aout there, Willie nelson and Merle haggard are still releasing music as is Hank williams Jr. and som others, and even a few contemporary artists ahev some good individual songs now and again, but for the most part country music has become so wrapped up in the idea that it has to cross over into the pop or soft-rock categories that it has lost the musical flavor of what made it country music to begin with. And people know it. When given a choice most still pick the older styles.

Think back a few eyars. Remember a song called Blue, released by LeAnn Rimes back in the 90's? That was originally wirtten for Patsy Cline back in the 60's but she died before she had the chance to record it. Rimes had a bigger success with that song that she had with any before or since. That is precisely my point that becasue it was in the older, traditional country style, country fans went for it. But, most ocuntry music now just doesn't ahve that musical sense of ocuntry that it did, even 20 years ago.

I like Country Music better now, than a few years ago. I like the Pop/Country sound, like Shania and Carrie Underwood. However, Hank Williams was so awesome! There are no songs that can compare to "Hey Good Lookin'" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", and Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline "Crazy", etc! I guess they call it Classic Country, now!

Some of todays country music sucks, there are a few exceptions. It seems the music is too "fake", it's like they are singing about something they have never experienced.

Kinda sad that they call the old school country "Americana" today.

I have great respect for the country pioneers like Cash, Loretta Lynn, et al...But seems today's country is total MTV fare. Far less substance & heart.
Just my opinion.

I somewhat like it. Maybe it's under the reign of Carrie Underwood and she brought pop to country.

Most of the time it sucks. There are some rare ones that are kinda catchy and fun to listen to but most of the time it is trash.
