Someone did this once. It was in the news a dew years ago. They sued for alienation of affection.

Yes, most ridiculous thing I ever heard of.

Do people not read the question right or what. The husband is dead and then the wife finds out. Obviously then the husband didnt leave the wife. So since he is dead nothing can happen to you because she cant prove anything unless he had something lying around.

In North Carolina a man won over $7 million in damages from the man who his wife left him for. As your other answerer said, it was called "alienation of affection". In this case the ex-hubby won because he was able to show that the other man's actions CAUSED him to lose his wife. If your lover did not leave his wife for you, and was still married to her when he died, then you don't have anything to worry about. If he left her FOR you and she can prove that you persued her husband then her case MIGHT not get laughed out of court, but to be honest, this is one of those times when our sexist society might work in your behalf. Most judges will just think he grew tired of her and you were available. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

Some states still have alienation of affection and perhaps criminal conversation (criminal conversation is sexual intercourse by a married person with someone other than his/her wife) on the law books, so that's a couple of reasons I can think of.

Alienation of affection. And yes, she really can sue you for that.

Depends on the laws in your state, and if there is a lawyer crazy enough to do it.

Be a real woman about this and talk to her. Tell her the truth about the affair. This was HER HUSBAND and she deserves to know the truth!!!

You know it was wrong, not it's time to come clean.
