I have a two cousins. a boy who's about 16 and a girl who's about 12. They live in india and have a birthday coming up. I'm not worried about getting it to them since my nani is going there soon, but i'm not sure what they would want for their birthday. I live in America and I would like to get them something that they may not be able to get there in India. They live in a medium sized village and own land there. My parents earn an average amount here. Do you have any ideas of what they may want?

Hi, naina 92. I appreciate your affectionate feelings towards your cousins. I thank you first on their behalf. You have not mentioned their geographical location. India is a land of different languages with different cultures. The cultural desires differ from place to place. However you can gift them some electronic gadgets or related materials that would help them for the purpose of their studies or for gaining general knowledge. You are fourteen years old, I guess. Your cousins are also adolescents. Though psychologically you seem to be alike, your wants may differ because of your styles of growing up. Anyhow I want to advise you to present some CDs or DVDs pertaining to the subjects they are studying. If they don't have facilities to view them, better send them greeting cards with fine messages. You can think over anything what the boys and girls of that age in the US and Canada would like to get as their birthday gifts. Have a fine day!

Where you born in the US? If not and you remember first being here, what were you most amazed by?

If you have been to India, what did you miss from the US while there?

What was your favorite thing as a 12 year old (assuming you are older now)?

Maybe for the girl make-up or fashion jewelry.
For the boy, something sports or car related.

There are many great stuff in North America, much of those stuff isn't available in India. Go for some fancy toy that they can enjoy with in the long term. I don't know much about toys but, I am sure they would like toys suited for thier age.

My message is, to buy them something, they couldn't get access to.

Buy them Ultra Violet Ray blocking sunglasses (Ray Ban ....). These are very expensive in India.
You'll also be doing them a good turn by helping to prevent formation of Cataract in their later years.
