Sure, if you go by a loose definition of "criminal"; one that would meet the standards of the Ten Commandments. But let's not mix religion and politics!

Will Bush ever be sanctioned? Congress won't impeach him. We wouldn't want a precedent of impeaching presidents for deceiving the public and Congress about an unjust war and persistently using thousands of our troops as IED fodder with no plan for victory. These are not serious offenses against our nation like a brief affair with a flirtatious young woman. And, since the US conveniently isn't a member of the international criminal court, they can't get him, they lack jurisdiction.

Lincoln Chafee was on the Daily Show last night. He said there were only 5 Republicans in the entire Senate last term who would dare to vote against the President's plans. They had lunch together. I predict that Smith of Oregon will likely be eating with the remaining 3 moderate Republican Senators, Collins, Snow, and Spector. That's the most that will come of Smith's brave and accurate statement.

For the uneducated Gordon Smith has continually been between the Republican senators that have continually been a Democrat. it somewhat is a similar with the Democrats who've a tendency to be Republicans. i could think of the Democrats could understand which of those people are and how they lean. I advise it may lead them to look extra clever of their insults.

Senator Smith is simply saying what his hate-filled followers want to hear.

What concerns me is the apparent decision by the Democratic party that anything they disagree with politically is a crime.

How long until you can be arrested for voting for an candidate from another party?

I think Bush's administration lying to Congress and the American people is criminal. Since a lie got us into the war which has cost us almost 3,000 lives, I guess the actions would be criminal, but not for the reasons Smith has stated.

I don't know of any laws against doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. So I don't think it is criminal, just stupid.

Right you are Ken, doing it on a lie is even worse. He lied to congress and the American people and the result has been almost 3000 American lives and 655,000 Iraqi deaths, many more wounded and deformed for life, yes I would say that is criminal.
