I'm really shy and I just joined a track team. We've had two conditioning meets, and everyone on the team talks to eachother. One girl invited me to go running with her and like 3 other girls over the weekend so I did, but they all were talking and I didn't know what to say! At track practices there's a few people who I say Hi to, but I never know what to say after that, I don't know how to join convos with them or introduce myself to people, I feel like I'm bothering them or they'll be wondering why I'm talking . How can I be more friendly and start convos with people because I want to make friends with people on the team.

Just go up to them and say "Hi, we haven't met. My name is..."
Start making small talk. Ask them how long they've been running? Ask them what their track goals are? Do they do better with a running partner? Once you see them day after day, they'll get to know you as a regular face. I'm doing the same thing, kinda. I just started training for a marathon. I joined a running group that meets every Saturday morning. It's a little odd because there's like 50 people. 45 of them female, 5 guys. I'm the youngest guy. I think most of the girls are like in their 20's and I'm 35. Not bad odds though. :)

It's hard at first but there is nothing wrong with listening for a while. When you get to know them you will feel more comfortable. Listen to what they are saying, chat about something you have in common? You may find that you don't like some of them because all they talk about is (?) or themselves. In time they will ask you questions, you can answer them and go from there, like asking the same question back - 'and you?' Like 'where do you live.' You can try 'Let's grab a bite to eat' Let's get a coffee/smoothie. Make it personal, have genuine interest in them and what they are interested in and a good friend will do the same for you.

Just be yourself :) You sound like a nice person, I would surely be your friend!
