If your question is hitter ??...then it Shahid Afridi.......Afridi's hitting is not brute force hitting..there is a lot of orthodoxity in his battng..like the cover drives..but dhonis hitting is more power hitting..see the twirl of the bat in his hands and the way his body lifts up in the air when he gives it a go!!!!
But if your question is about a better batsman..its Dhoni...coz there is more brain to his batting than meagre hitting...he plays the game according to the situation!!!!

first it is M.S. Dhoni second dhoni is not only a hitter but he can play defencive for some time and he is wicket keeper too he also can win matches for india single handidly but shahid afridi he is a hitter a six hitter a big hitter danger for bowlers but he cant defend well
finall thing is if u r from pakistan u will prefer shahid afridi and if u r indian u will prefer M.S. Dhoni

What a question man. Look for the better batsman. Pure hitters are not doing justice to the team (& themselves too). At present, Dhoni is a better player. If Shahid calms down and plays sensibly, he would be a better cricketer.

if you are talking of hitting in air or by closing eyes Shahid bhai lives dhoni way back. Shahid bhai knows only to hit ball & the ball goes any where,he has no style. in 100 innings hardly 2 to 3 innings has been clicked, So what is the use of such hitter.
Whereas Dhoni has his own style, he does'nt close his eyes . ball goes where he intends after he is powerful hitting & is consistent performer.
