Depends on your metabolism. If you regularly burn through 2500 Calories a day, then you will lose weight on 2000 Calories per day. However, if you only use 1800 Calories per day and you ingest 2000, you will gain weight.

If you are under the age of 20, 2000 Calories is probably recommended (and may even be too little!) because adolescent bodies require more calories to fuel raging metabolism and body development and growth. But if you are over the age of 30, 2000 Calories may be too much.

What do you do for excercise? What's your current weight?

you will gain weight with that many calories...go down to 1500 a day.
