Our little boys hamster had the same problem. the bald patch was weeping and bleeding, the vet said it was just where it had scratched itself. unfortunately within a few days and before we could get anouther appointment the bald patches spread and the hamster died. So take it back to the vets.

Have your vet tested for mites/parasites? If this is ruled out, could be an allergy. What kind of bedding are you using? What are you feeding them? Maybe they're getting too much protein?

take him to another vet. It could be mites. Some vets just don't care.

How old is he? is he getting enough time out of his cage? if not old age it could be boredom. we have to let our girls out to play with us n have free run of a room for at least an hour preferably 2 every day or they go mad in there.
