adding -10t-5
-4t=-12
dividing by -4
t=3

2006-12-11 09:22:11 · answer #1 · answered by raj 7 · 0 0

5 + 6t = 10t - 7 (Subtract 6t and add 7 to both sides)
4t = 12 (Divide both sides by 4)
t = 3

Check:

5 + 6(3) = 10(3) - 7
5 + 18 = 30 - 7
23 = 23

First off, you're solving for t, which is also called the variable.
>Simplify the numbers on each side of the equal sign, but in this case it's already simplified.
>then bring the variables on one side of the = sign and the numbers on the opposite side of the = sign.And when you bring it over to the other side of the = sign, you switch the - or +sign around (if it's a positive, make it a negative)
So it would look like this 5 + 7 = -6t + 10t
>Now you solve for each side
It would looke like this 12=4t
>Now you 'undo' the multiplication between the 4 and the t by doing the opposite which is dividing by 4.And what you do to one side of the = sign, you do to the other.So....
12 divided by 4= 4t divided by 4

>And your answer will be...
t=3 Or 3=t

You must first move the variables (in this case t) to one side of the equation and the constants to the other side of the equation.
6t-10t=-7-5
-4t=-12 Divide out the -4
t=3

2006-12-11 09:23:19 · answer #4 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

5 + 6t = 10t - 7
+7 +7

=12 + 6t = 10t
-6t -6t

= 12 = 4t

12/4 = 4t/4

12/4 = t

you got the rest, right?

A quiz is meant to objective your expertise, as antagonistic to homework, that's meant to instruct you. So i won't be in a position to furnish you solutions. i visit declare, however, that the final potential for fixing those is to first improve out all expressions, then circulate all of the variables to one area and all of the constants to the different area, then divide for the period of to isolate the variable. as an occasion, 3x - 6 = x + 2 3x - x - 6 = x - x + 2 2x - 6 = 0 + 2 2x - 6 + 6 = 0 +2 + 6 2x = 8 x = 4 If on the top, you get something like 3 = -3 which isn't real, then the respond is "no answer" If on the top, you get something like 2 = 2 that's real, then the respond is "x could properly be any style"

Bring t to one side subtract 6t from both side
5=4t-7
Combine like terms, by adding 7 to both side
12=4t
divide by 4 both side
t=3

2006-12-11 09:25:14 · answer #9 · answered by lynn 2 · 0 0

Its just algebra.

First add seven to each side to get: 12+6t=10t

Then subtract 6t from each side to get: 12=4t

And finally divide both sides by four to get the answer; t=3

2006-12-11 09:23:03 · answer #10 · answered by B 3 · 0 0

first,
try bringing the t values in one side and the variableless numbers in the otherside, which is
5+7=10t-6t
this equals,
12=4t
to bring the t alone, we must
divide 12 by 4 and 4t by 4 which is
12/4=4t/4
which equals
3=t
thus thus equation is solved.
if you are not clear with this, you can ask anybody who knows algebra.
