Our son was about 4-5 months old, and it was incredible. He was 5 weeks premature, and I think around 4 months he really started to laugh because he wanted to laugh. We would get smiles, but laughing was a different matter.

The best thing to encourage it is to just be his parent! Play with him, enjoy yourself!

Our son is 14 months old now, and he's the happiest kid we've known. Many people comment on how happy he really is. We've let him have his independence, but we've also been involved in his development. We laugh together, play together, roll around together...

She started laughing around three months. She smiled at 1.5 months and did kind of a haaaa thing but the actual laugh started about a week ago at three months. The way I encouraged it is by making noises she likes when I do a laugh like ernie and bert off the muppet show she smiled really big and went haaaa so i kept doing it and now it cracks her up.

My baby boy was 2 months old when he first laughed. Laughing is encouraged through bonding moments with Mom and Baby. He's purely breastfed and he's 5 1/2 months old now. I smile at him when he wakes up and we read his favorite book together. I also play games with him and tickle him sometimes. Just show him that you're happy spending time with him.

I don't quite remember how old my son was... around 3 months or so. You'd be surprised what will make your baby giggle. My son enjoyed having scrunchies shot lightly in his face--hours and hours of entertainment for the kid. Any extreme physical activity on your part will get a giggly reaction: jumping around, making sudden silly noises, etc. It takes a while, but you'll figure out what makes baby go into hysterical laughter.

My baby started laughing at about 2 1/2 months. She just did it one day but now she is ticklish so she laughs when we tickle her. Also if my husband and I start laughing so will she. Hope that helps.

My daughter cackled for the first time at 2 months. I was just pulling a burp cloth over her face. She loved it! She full out laughed at 31/2 months.

My son started around 5 months. I think the first time he really giggled it was due to pinching the inside of his chubby legs. That's always sure to get a giggle even today. Peek-a-Boo is pretty great for getting a giggle or two as well.
:o)

My son was a preemie (Almost 3 months early) and by his corrected age (His due date) he was just over 2 months. I was making faces and him and he was smiling and all of a sudden he started to laugh.

about three months.

to encourage it, play with your child often. what works best with my son is gently poking his cheeks with my fingers and laugh, or taking his hands and poking his cheeks. often children will laugh in response to laughter from their parents.
