The original Dorothy on Broadway was Anna Laughlin in 1903.

The Wizard of Oz as we know it has never been on Broadway. Lyman Frank Baum produced an early, very successfull, treatment of his book "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" on Broadway in the early 1900s. It highlighted the vaudeville team of Montgomery and Stone as the Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman. Anna Laughlin appeared as Dorothy. The show featured had a loose plot and the songs were mainly ways to show off the talent, not very plot-incorporated like musicals now. You can hear samples from the show at:
