some babies just don't burp as often as others!

methods to try are:
rubbing her back up and down and in circles, then tapping it,

holding her with her back against you, your arm around her belly, and walking around- bouncing gently,

sitting her on your knee and with one hand under her chin, use the other hand to gently push her spine towards her belly- straightening it out.

People burp their babies and are so scared they will hurt them so they do it so gently that there is no way its going to happen. You need to burp with a little bit of force not close to enough to hurt her but firmly enough that it does the job. Also moving the baby into different positions helps..burping for a minute with her over your shoulder then change her into a sititng position for a minute then if that doesnt work put her over your thighs stomach first and pat her back like that for a few minutes. I get my baby to burp 95 percent of the time doing that..also by being a little firmer when patting her. Gentle pats dont work a lot of the time..it doesnt hurt my baby either she can be crying and if i pat her back a little vigourously it soothes her.

Burping a baby is just to get the gas out. If she doesn't have any then what are you looking for? I would have given anything to not have gassy babies. Also maybe she is farting it out. Pay attention. Keep the other hand on her bottom. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. Ask the doc when you go next time but if she's not in pain then why worry. You don't burp when you don't have to!

Set her on your shoulder or over your lap supoprting her head. Rub firmly from the bottom of her back to the top a couple times. My son had a hard time burping so thats what I had to do with him.

i found the best way to burp my son was to sit him down on my lap and lean him forward a bit, supporting him with my hand/arm putting a little bit of pressure on his tummy. but if you little girl cant support her head, i suggest lying her across your lap and rubbing and patting her back that way. they shoulder thing never worked well for me. GOOD LUCK!

Is your baby breastfed?
Breastfed babies don't swallow air like bottlefed babies. After all, there is no air in your breast!
Breastfed babies usually only need burped if they aren't latching on well or they are upset and crying before a feeding.

Some babies just don't have to. If she is not getting gassy or spitting up as a result try not to worry about it too much.

inbetween patting rub her back. also this may sound odd but it does work... I had to with my kids, give her 2-3 oz. of room temp. Gingerale then rub and lightly pat her back. it will also take care of any gas she may have

holding her her up and over your shoulder is one way but try putting her on your lap but on her stomach on your lap and pat her that way.
