My baby is three months old and she hates tummy time. her head is gettiing flat and i want her to develop her muscular strength for sitting and that but she refuses to lay on her stomatch even for 30 seconds..the minute i put her down she either cries and kicks her legs and doesnt stop or else when she is expecially mad rolls onto her back..does anyone have any suggestions on how to make this more enjoyable for her?

Note: ive been laying with my baby tummy to tummy since she was born that is the only time she enjoys tummy tme but id like her to explore rolling over more and playing on her tummy more and she cant do that when shes on my tummy.

also my baby certianly isnt in a swing stroller etc all the time..she gets more then enough time with mommy and daddy out of there..so babies actually get a flat head from sleeping in their cribs on their backs according to my doctor and she sleeps in her crib for nine hours a night which im guessing probably causes a flat head.

Have you tried using a boppy (or even a rolled up towel) to help? My babies hated tummy time, my son would scream after just a couple of seconds; I was shown to use a boppy so that they are not lying completely flat, and it made a tremendous difference instantly. You place the boppy under them, I suppose you would say under the baby's chest, so her arms are draped over the boppy and her legs, which are straight behind her, are basically in the space made by the open part of the boppy. Oh boy I can't describe it...I hope you know what I mean! If the boppy is a "U" shape, that open top of the "U" is where baby's legs go, and the closed part of the "U" goes under the baby's chest. Hope that makes some sense. Anyway, give it a try; my baby's were able to tolerate tummy time with the boppy and in short order tummy time just stopped being problematic.

Put her on Daddy's chest (less bumpy than mommy's)

Also, if you would just carry your baby around either in arms, or in a carrier she would be getting stronger and not have a flat head. Only babies stuck in swings, bouncy chairs, strollers, cribs, playpens all day need tummy time. The rest of the world thinks we are insane!

We used to fly my son around like Superman on our forearms... he loved it and it really helped to strengthen his little neck.

Propping the baby up on the bed on a pillow works well so you can get eye to eye with him/her. They'll be much happier staying on their belly if you're playing with them on their level.

We also used to lay our kids across our laps on their tummies now and then while we sat and visited with people so they didn't have to stare at ankles all day. They could at least see kneecaps once in a while :D

I wouldn't worry. My daughter did that too. She would act CRAZY if you put her on her tummy. She just didn't like it. Eventually she laid on her tummy on her own. She crawled at the beginning of her 7 month. She's been cruising since about 2 weeks after. I wouldn't worry too much. I just let her do her own thing.

I had the same problem with my son. We rolled up a towel and kinda draped him over it, so he could see more than a face full of floor. That helped a lot, and he took off from there.

lay on your back and put her on her tummy( on your tummy)
She will feel close to you and can push up and get used to being on her tummy. Let her be on her back on th floor, eventually she will love tummy time.

We had a little baby mirror/toy frog thingy that I would put in front of my daughter. She liked looking in the mirror, & it was a good distraction!
