We have absolutely destroyed Iraq. Caused it to implode into civil war. Inspired increased terrorist membership. In light of all this who can honestly stand up and say they are proud of what America has done under the leadership of the Republicans ( corporate alliance)?

I do not think we have destroyed anything; I am an independent, but I really think that at the end it is going to be up to the people in Iraq if they want to be one country, three or just fight it off until somebody is completely destroyed.

I think the US has good intentions (by the way I was not born in the US) but the approach was a little naive. I find people in the far left and far right sometimes are ridiculous trying to blame everything in the opponent, and they are sometimes so negative for political reasons. I have a few friends in Iraq ( a few of them are also foreign born) fighting there, and there are a lot of good stories, and the media is pretty negative in general. One thing I can not complain about bush is that 5 years later, still not attack in US soil. America has not caused anything, fundamentalism is an old belief, and many of the enemies of the west go way back. The modern terrorist probably stated with Carter and Iran in the 70's. Lots of Americans were not aware of it but that is a different story.

Ever heard of biting the hand that feeds you...

The problem with our current American society is that we have become so adjusted to living the easy life (with our biggest problem being the price of gasoline) that we have become whinners.

We love to eat, but we are not fully greatful about the feast because we have never had to bring the food to the table. We have never toiled in the fields to bring home the grocerys. (Ask yourself have you ever gone hungry? Americans did during the Great Depression.)

We have spun out the biggest "bellyackers" of our American history who are hell bent on complaining about everything that doesn't appease them personally.

We go big but complain about being able to do so...

I could not be any prouder to be an American for the very fact that you the individual we be able to whin about how embarrassing you feel America is while those who are really in charge will continue to protect you and everyone like you from hurting yourselfs.

Just remember...

We don't have to stand proud, so much as doing the right thing. Iraq was not thought out too well, obviously; maybe the intentions were good. We should have gone into Iran, if we don't do that soon and we are hit w/ one or more of their nukes, that will be the end of America. Maybe you can stand proud then.

You are absolutely right, but there will probably be dozens of foaming republicans denouncing you as a friend of terrorism.

If you look at the present situation in the US the parallels to Germany in the 1930s are really frightening.

I will go anywhere, at any time, and be a proud AMERICAN. I am also a proud REPUBLICAN.

And if you can't say that, either RUN FOR OFFICE and show us your brilliance as you do it better (bet you're a wussy and won't have the guts even if you do have the brains) or LEAVE and go to somewhere that is run "better."

Whatever happened to anti-war "teach-ins"? At least those war protesters has their FACTS STRAIGHT. I cannot believe how stupid this current crop of anti-war protesters are, and how stupid they wish to remain when shown the FACTS.

BTW, not only do I have the balls to be an American, I also had the balls for run for office.
